why I don't have marble in my home...

The whole virtual world seems to love it. It's dreamy, flowing, and absolutely gorgeous. The perfect stone for bakers that adds just the right touch of old world charm to today's popular styles. There’s a richness and character to marble that other stones can’t touch. From the Pinterest-perfect kitchens with spans of marble countertops to bathrooms covered in stunning marble tile just waiting for you to come in and relax, marble is taking over the renovation world. But is it right for you? It might not be... as a Designer, I don't have it in my home. Here's why:

Marble requires a bit (sometimes a lot) of maintenance and for many people, the effort isn't worth the headache. I have 3 kids at home, run two full time businesses, and homeschool all these little humans. With teenagers at home, I often wake up to food and drink covered countertops from their nighttime cooking shenanigans, come home to paint and glue at the island from my creative artsy daughter, and to be real embarrassingly transparent- there's usually a mound of dishes waiting to be washed at any given time next to the sink. All marble nightmares. I have no interest in or time to worry about my kitchen and bathrooms, I need wipe and go. Although I still absolutely ohh and ahh and daydream of the most beautiful marble kitchen every time someone chooses it for their renovation, it's just not for where I'm at in life right now. It's on my someday list.
